Michael’s song performed by Tim Freedman and the SSO
On 4th December 2009 at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, The Whitlams performed the song ‘Up Against the Wall’ with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The song was co-written by Tim Freedman, Michael Vidale and Ian Hildebrand in 1996.
National Fiddle Champion 2009
Mike Kerin came home from Tamworth this year as winner of the fiddle section of the Tamworth National Bluegrass Championships for 2009. We wouldn’t have even known about the award except that it slipped into some conversation about race horses and past champions … Mike last entered the award 10 years ago, when he won that time as well. He must deserve it!
Golden Fiddle Award 2008
Mike won a Golden Fiddle Award 2008 for best solo CD. His CD, The Dining Room Sessions, was released in 2006 and can be purchased through any music store in Australia. Mike sings all the songs and plays fiddle, mandolin and guitar on the album, with a bit of help from some of his friends in providing other textures. This award adds to the swag of awards Mike has received through the years for his marvelous playing and musicianship.
FAA Presenters Choice Award
In August, presenters of folk and roots music on radio programs around Australia voted ‘Full House’ their choice of best new

The Planet Company takes on Full House
We’ve signed a distribution agreement with The Planet Company, a local record label that specialises in folk and world music. They distribute many of the well-known international folk labels in Australia, as well as supporting local artists.
Band tour with Albert Lee
Wheelers and Dealers toured with internationally renowned country rock guitarist Albert Lee
in August 2007. Their final show together at the Basement in Sydney was televised on ABC1
in 2008 (and played again in August 2009).
